The countertop is the surface you touch every day, and it’s the choice homeowners second-guess for years afterward. Kitchen Emporium sells quartz, granite, marble and butcher block out of the Chatsworth showroom at wholesale prices, then templates and installs the slab with our own crew instead of handing your kitchen to a fabricator’s schedule. Ten quartz options are included in the $8,950 complete kitchen. Pick the counter early, because the material decides your sink cutout, where the seams land, and how much upkeep you’ve signed yourself up for. Come see the slabs in person before you commit to anything.

Quick Takeaways

  • Four materials sold and installed: quartz, granite, marble and butcher block, at wholesale pricing to the public.
  • Ten quartz choices come with the $8,950 complete kitchen. Bolder slabs are an upgrade.
  • Templating and installation are done in-house by our own crew under CA Contractor License #947147.
  • An 18-gauge stainless steel sink is free with a kitchen purchase. Showroom: 21417 Devonshire Street, Chatsworth.
The four materials behave very differently in a kitchen that gets cooked in

Quartz wins most family kitchens. It’s engineered stone — non-porous, no sealing, and a spill that sits overnight usually wipes up like nothing happened. The trade-off is heat: the resin that binds quartz can scorch under a pan straight off the burner, so keep a trivet by the range. Granite is natural stone, tougher against heat, and no two slabs match. It wants sealing about once a year. Marble is the honest problem child. It etches. Lemon juice, vinegar and tomato sauce dull the polish in ways no sealer prevents, which is why a marble island in a house with three kids is a maintenance job, not a countertop. Butcher block is warm and repairable — sand it, re-oil it, move on — but it swells with humidity and hates standing water.

Ten quartz choices are already in the package, and only some kitchens need more

The base $8,950 complete kitchen includes your pick of ten quartz countertops, installed, along with 20 linear feet of solid-wood cabinets and a 6-inch backsplash. For scale, the median U.S. kitchen remodel cost $8,000 between 2021 and 2023, according to the 2023 American Housing Survey. Most kitchens stop right there. Upgrade when the counter is the thing you want people to look at — heavy veining, darker stone, a slab with real movement across a big island that’s visible from the living room. On a galley run buried against a wall, that money does nothing. Spend it on storage instead.

Templating and installing in-house keeps the job off someone else's calendar

Handoffs are where jobs stall. Cabinets get set, then the homeowner waits while an outside fabricator fits the template into whatever slot they have, and a two-day step turns into three weeks of plywood. Our own crew measures, templates and installs under CA Contractor License #947147, so one company answers for the cutout, the overhang and the reveal at the wall. LADBS permit records show 3,501 kitchen-related permits issued citywide in 2025, 64 of them in Chatsworth–Porter Ranch, per LADBS permit records. Plenty of those homeowners are still waiting on a slab.

Edges, thickness, seams and the backsplash change the look more than the color does

Two slabs of the same quartz can read completely differently. Thickness is the first lever — thinner stone looks lighter and more modern, thicker stone reads solid and traditional, and a mitered build-up can make either one look chunkier at the edge without changing the slab. A simple eased edge suits contemporary doors; a rounded or ogee profile belongs with traditional ones. Seams matter more. Ask where the seam lands before anyone cuts, because a seam through the middle of a sink cutout or across the front of an island is the detail you’ll notice forever. The included 6-inch backsplash keeps the stone running up the wall and hides the drywall line. Some kitchens want full-height tile instead.

Hold the sample against your cabinet finish before you sign anything

Screens lie about stone. A grey quartz that looks cool on a phone can pull green next to a Sage door and blue next to Charcoal, and the only way to know is to see them side by side. That’s what the Chatsworth showroom is for. Bring a photo of your room and your flooring sample. We’ll set the slab sample against the actual cabinet door and let you see the pairing before a dollar moves. Slab, sink, hardware, edge profile — decide it all in one visit.

What Our Customers Say

Frequently Asked Questions

Is quartz or granite better for a busy family kitchen?

Quartz, in most cases. It’s non-porous, so it never needs sealing and won’t absorb wine, oil or coffee. Choose granite if you want a one-of-a-kind natural slab and don’t mind sealing it yearly — granite also takes heat better.

Do quartz countertops need to be sealed?

No. Quartz is engineered with resin, so there’s nothing porous to seal. Granite and marble are natural stone and do need periodic sealing. Butcher block needs oiling instead, and how often depends on how hard you use it.

What countertops are included in the $8,950 complete kitchen?

You pick from ten quartz countertops, installed, along with 20 linear feet of solid-wood cabinets, a 6-inch backsplash and an 18-gauge stainless steel sink that’s free with a kitchen purchase. Granite, marble, butcher block and bolder quartz are upgrades; bigger kitchens and islands are quoted separately.

Is butcher block a bad idea next to a sink?

It’s the hardest spot for it. Standing water at a sink edge is what makes wood swell, darken and eventually split, so butcher block does better on an island or a baking station. Pair it with quartz on the sink wall instead.

Do you install countertops outside Chatsworth?

Yes. The showroom is in Chatsworth, and installation covers Granada Hills, Porter Ranch, West Hills, Northridge, Woodland Hills, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Calabasas, Westlake Village and greater Los Angeles.
